11 days of detention but no evidence against Indian doctor Haneef
The Australian federal Police are busy to disclose any link between failed terror attack in UK and the detained Indian Dr Muhammad Haneef in Australia.

No body should support any kind of terror act anywhere in the world but one should wait for the charges to be proved against any accused.

According to the report in Australian media, AFP has found no evidence against Haneef even after 11 days of detention without any charge. The AFP still says that Haneef has had significant contact with the suspects in the failed terror plot.

However, the authorities have said that because of the complexity of the case, he is still under detention.

On the other hand, the Civil liberty groups in Australia has raised its voice against AFP and asked why Dr Muhammad Haneef is still under detention without being charged in a Brisbane watch house. The Civil liberty groups have said that he is not getting natural justice in the detention.

The AFP had applied for more time to detain Haneef for the third time. The Civil rights groups and lawyers have urged either charge Mohammed Haneef or set him free.

On the other hand, the Australian Prime Minister John Howard told media persons that he was not uncomfortable with Haneef’s detention without charge because the tough anti-terrorism laws do give permission for this.

Howard told local media:

I’m happy with the laws because I sponsored them. I defend them. We do need to arm ourselves with the laws that are being applied at the present circumstance.

I think the Australian public is entitled to effective laws and God forbid that we should ever have a terrorist attack in this country.

Even after 11 days detention and massive search operation, the Australian police had failed to find any evidence against Haneef that could proved Haneef’s involvement in the terror plot.

Haneef is a second cousin to Kafeel Ahmed, who is the suspected suicide bomber in the Glasgow attack. Both of them had reportedly a chat via an Internet in March/April 2007.According to the documents, Haneef was not very close to Kafeel, but stayed with him and other suspects when he had visited Britain in 2004.
