
At least 24 people are feared dead in an accident when a bus fell off the Mahatma Gandhi Bridge over the River Ganga in Patna, Bihar. The Bihar Transport Corporation bus was on the way from Raxaul to Patna via Muzzaffarpur.
As the bus reached the Mahatma Gandhi Bridge near Patna, it plunged more than 100 feet to fall on the dry riverbed. The incident happened near pillar number seven when the driver lost control and rammed the bus into the bridge’s railing.
According to the report, the number of casualties may rise, as the bus was over-packed with more than 80 people on board. A large number of people have been rushed to the district hospitals in Patna and Hajipur. The police official said that the casualties may rise because many injured people, who have been sent to different hospitals, were in critical condition.
