3 killed in Maoists run riot in Bihar

On Sunday, three persons were killed and one other injured in the violence erupted in the 24-hour bandh called by the CPI (Maoist) in Bihar.

The incident happened in Gaya district of Bihar where Maoists killed three persons including a jawan of the Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) later identified as Shankar Singh Baghel from Allahabad (UP).

Maoists also killed a bus driver, Kameswar Rai and a conductor, Surajdeo Yadavm for violating the 24-hour bandh. The state government has specially creates the Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) to combat Maoists in the state.

According to the report, the Maoists also blew up a railway station in Jharkhand on Sunday. They called a 24-hour bandh to stage protest against the arresting of a senior Naxal leader, Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya, in Patna.

Maoists attacked at two places under the Amas and Barachatti police station in Gaya district on Sunday during the 24-hour bandh. They blazed vehicles and a passenger bus in these areas.

They allowed the passengers to disembark before the vehicle was set on fire. They burnt six vehicles including a bus near Amas and eight trucks in the Barachatti.

Later, the train services got disrupted in the Magadh region because of the the blast and subsequent track dislocation on the Grand Chord section of the railways. A sabotage also affected near Parasnath in Jharkhand.

The important trains such as Rajdhani Express, Mumbai Mail, Puri Express and Jodhpur Express skipped Gaya and diverted through the main line via Patna. Several other trains remained suspended for more than eight hours in the Gaya route.

On Sunday, the national highways in Gaya, Aurangabad and Rohtas districts looked deserted because the private buses and trucks were stayed off the roads.

The Maoists had called the bandh in Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh to stage protest against the arresting Tushar Kant Bhattacharya. Tushar is one of the most wanted naxal leaders in states such as Andhra-Pradesh, Maharshtra and Chattishgarh.
