Indian-born fashion designer Anand Jon, 33, was arrested earlier in March from his Beverly Hills home in US. He had been accused of rape, sexual battery, lewd acts and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Now, four more women from the fashion industry have complained against him for sexually harassing them. He has been charged with 20 counts of various charges of sexual assaults on five women and two girls.
However, Ronald Richards, Jon’s lawyer, has said that Jon has strongly denied the charges made against him. Earlier, Richard had said on the charges of sexually assault that the sex was consensual. He had claimed that the women had wrongly accused Jon because Jon did not make them popular in fashion industry.
He told to Reuters:
I think some the women were upset because they didn’t get much exposure they desired. They came to his apartment and slept with him. No one forced them to do anything. They say they slept with him and then months later they are making these charges.
Later, the court had granted bail to Jon at $1.3 million and the first hearing has been fixed for April 4. Jon, a graduate from the Parsons School of Design, had started his own label at New York Fashion Week in 1999. According to the reports, he is professionally linked with celebrities such as Paris and Nicky Hilton, Mary J. Blige and Norah Jones.
