Sarvatia Devi is a beggar in Patna, Bihar but she may not be called as an ordinary beggar. Despite of being a widow and blind in one eye, she thinks for her future and saving money for her better future.

According to a report, she has two savings bank accounts and she has invested in two Life insurance policies in her name.

She pays an annual premium of Rs.31,000 for one life insurance policy of Rs.300,000 and Rs.5,000 annually for the other policy of Rs.100,000.

There will be hundreds of homeless beggars in Patna, the capital of Bihar. They use railway stations, the Gandhi Maidan or the Mahavir temple to spend nights. But, Sarvatia Devi owns a house right in the heart of the city and gives financial support to her large family through begging.

She wears dirty clothes and people can find her on the streets in Patna anytime from morning to evening. According to the reports, she has been collected enough money to feed her family. She admitted that she easily earns anything between Rs.300-400 per day.

She said:

Hundreds of people give me coins and paper money because they have known me for over two decades. They treat me differently and never disappoint me.

I save enough out of daily begging to have a bank account and insurance for social security. After all who will look after me when I am old?

Sarvatia Devi had started begging at the age of 25 when her husband died for the survival of her children. After some time she decided to save the money for old age.
