On Monday, Abu Salem was brought to Delhi in the connection with one extortion case filed in delhi court. Today, Salem was produced before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini at the Tis Hazari.
The court had issued a production warrant against Salem on previous three occasions but Mumbai court had stayed the warrants due to security reason. Salem has faced the charge for alleged extortion call he made to a businessman in Delhi.
When the Indian government brought him and Monica Bedi from Portugal in 2005 on extradition, Salem was lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail. According to the police, Salem had allegedly demanded extortion of Rs one crore from Rajat Nagrath six years back. Rajan was the owner of Allied Communications in East of Kailash, Delhi.
There are four other cases registered against Salem in Delhi but he will be tried in three cases that were mentioned in the extradition agreement while he was being deported from Portugal to India. Currently, Salem is facing charges in eight cases in Delhi.
