
A criminal case has been registered against Infosys chief mentor N R Narayan Murthy in a Bangalore court On Saturday. The Second Additional City and Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M Mujahid Ulla has also issued summon to Narayan Murthy and ordered him to appear before the court on June 21.
Earlier, A forum of advocates fighting for implementation of Kannada in courts, ‘Kannada Rakshana Vakilara Vedike’ had filed a complaint against Murthy on May 3 regarding his remarks on the national anthem. The court has registered a criminal case under Sec 3 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971.
Vedike General Secretary H N Raghavendra had earlier had lodged a police complain in Tilaknagar on April 16 the police did not take any step against Murthy. Then only the Vedike went to court directly and filed a private complaint.
Earlier on April 8, Murthy had said that singing the instrumental version of national anthem would not embarrass foreign employees of company. However, Murthy had apologized by saying that he had no intention to hurt or to disrespect any national symbol or national anthem.
