Amitabh Bachchan’s hindi movie often sells for not less than four crore per territory. But his Bhojpuri debut movie, Ganga, is still waiting for buyers. The only territory, Delhi-UP has bought the movie and rests are not showing any interest in the movie in which Amitabh is in lead role.
The movie, Ganga, is produced by Big B’s make-up man Deepak Sawant who demanded 85 lakhs per territory for the movie but none of those was ready to pay that much amount. It left Sawant in a mess.
Bhojpuri films’ audiences come from rural areas of Bihar and UP. Currently the bhojpuri films are doing good business in Delhi and Mumbai. However, the rural audiences do not like to see the big stars, it seems. Because of this fact, the distributors are not ready to play gamble.
Some critics say that Bhojpuri movies are loosing the essence what it had maintained for so many years. The appearance of bollywood stars in these movies is the biggest cause. Around ninety percent of Bhojpuri films have been flopped in the last two years.
It does not matter Big B is in the movie. People, it seems, want to see their own stars. They don’t like Big B, Hema Malini, Nagma in their kind of movies.
