Some twenty years back the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Karpoori Thakur called thousands of unemployed engineers at the Gandhi Maidan, Patna. He offered them the appointment letters.
Now this is the turn of present CM of Bihar, Nitish Kumar. The government of Bihar is going to recruit 2.35 lakh teachers in the vacant seats in the schools of Bihar.
Fifty-one thousand 51,000 primary schools, middle schools, secondary level schools in Bihar are in the urgent need of at least 2.35 lakh teachers.
This is not the end of the road. There are massive vacancies exist in colleges and universities in Bihar.
Among 237 constituent colleges, 185 colleges are running by temporary principals. About seven hundred posts of the lecturers lying vacant in nine universities.
The Governor of Bihar R S Gawai said that the situation of higher education in Bihar is going through an extremely bad phase and it needs urgent revamp.
Moreover, there are enormous vacancies in several departments of the state as reported by the Bihar Administrative Reforms Commission.
Road construction department needs 1,133 engineers
Rural Engineering Organisation needs 272 engineers
Revenue and land reforms department needs 248 circle officers
However, RJD chief Lalu Prasad has his own view. He said that after four years when the Centre government will stop grants to the state, how will Nitish pay salaries to the newly appointed teachers.
Lalu wants Nitish to follow his path of ruling, as just not to recruit in any department, schools and colleges, what he did for fifteen long years.
