
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polling results have been proved as big boost for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra politics. The alliance has made almost a clean sweep in the BMC polls and scored over the Congress and NCP.
Congress and NCP have suffered a loss in most of the elections to 10 civic bodies in Maharashtra.
The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance has won 110 seats in BMC. With this comfort winning, the alliance has placed itself for another five-year term in the BMC.
The Congress won 73 seats and NCP won 14 seats in Mumbai. On the other hand, the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) won 7 seats. The independents candidates have won on 23 seats.
Uddhav Thackarey, who faced sibling competition, has proved himself a clear winner in the political battle. Earlier, according to the media reports, Narayan Rane and Raj Thackarey were considered the giant killers in the BMC polls.
Some report had said that the poll would ensure the end of the Shiv Sena. But the tiger has roared again with in Maharashtra.
Shiv Sainiks were in the jubilant mood outside Matoshri, Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s residence. They were celebrating the stunning victory with flags and bursting crackers.
However, this time the voters turn-out had showed a low as about 46 per cent voters exercised their franchise in Mumbai. On the other hand, on the state level, the average was 58 per cent.

However, the Pune Municipal Corporation polling results showed the clear winning by Cong-NCP. The Congress-NCP combine has won 77 seats.
On the other hand, Sena-BJP has won 45 seats. But on the pattern of BMC results, the BJP-Sena alliance has won 65 seats, Congress 32, NCP 8, MNS 2 and others 28 in Nagpur Municipal cooperation.
On the other hand, in the Nashik Municipal Corporation polls, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance has won 40 seats, Congress 21, NCP 17 and MNS 12 out of total 90 seats.
The same story has repeated in Thane Municipal polls. The Sena-BJP combine has secured 53 seats, Congress 16, NCP 25, MNS 3 and others 19.
