Blog-blocking saga is over. ISPs lifted the block against various websites. However, the ban is still in place. Some of the websites are banned by the DOT on the ground of spreading anti-national influences. But just have a look on the banned websites, one may found that these are more anti-congress rather than anti-national.
Earlier India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) confirmed the ban but the list of the websites to be blocked was confidential.
HinduUnity.org has been banned. It is one of the 17 websites banned by the Government. The website is said to be the mouthpiece of the Bajrang Dal.
Exposingtheleft.blogspot.com has a post on Congress trying to block a film being made about Sonia Gandhi is blocked now.
bamapachyderm.com writes against woman’s self-proclaimed vast right wing conspiracy found anti-national sentiments by the UPA government.
The irony of the Government decision is that all the sites that has banned contain ‘anti-Muslim’ or ‘anti-Congress expression’.
At the same time, Indians may easily access the website of the Hezbollah’s TV channel.
Now the question rises that government took the step to ban websites for the sake of national security or only for the political reasons. This is a sensitive question and government should present the details, which forced it to take such step.
