On Thursday, the Bombay High Court has accepted a public interest litigation (PIL) that was filed against Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal. The High Court has also issued notice against Naresh Goyal after accepting the PIL. The petitioner has urged the court to order a CBI inquiry into the alleged links between Naresh Goyal and the underworld.
M Furquam, a Mumbai resident, had filed the PIL in the High court. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice S C Dharmadhikari has taken note of the PIL filed against Naresh Goyal and ordered a responsible officer from police department to be present in court on the next hearing on July 19.
Earlier, Furquam had filed two more PILs for the same cause in the High court and this was the third PIL against Naresh Goyal. The same division bench had dismissed two earlier PILs leveling similar allegations and seeking CBI inquiry in this matter in 2006.
In the petition, Furquam has referred to the letters once written by Anjan Ghosh, joint director of the Intelligence Bureau regarding the links between Naresh Goyal and underworld. He has accused Goyal for having links with gangsters such as Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel.
