The STD charges will be history after this Deewali at least for 60 million Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) customers.

BSNL has decided to reduce the long-distance STD calling rates by over 40 per cent. The maximum cost for STD calling will be around Re 1 to Rs 1.20 for every minute.

The STD call charges will be as like as current local call charges. At present, the maximum rate for a STD call for a minute is Rs 2.40 per minute. It will be gone at Rs 1.20 per minute.

The services would be available in all 23 telecom circles across the country. Delhi and Mumbai will be out of this service.

However, it has been already announced by MTNL that Delhi-Mumbai calls will be charged as per local calling charges.

There is another Deewali gift for the BSNL customers that in One India Scheme, the rental will be reduced to Rs 180 from Rs 225.
