In a shocking incident, a woman Army officer, Captain Megha Razdan, reportedly committed suicide in Jammu on Sunday. The incident occurred at Sunday night when she was present at her official residence in Kunjawani army camp that is located in the outskirts of Jammu.
She was associated with 113 Engineering Regiment as Electrical and Mechanical Engineer. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan roped with a bed sheet in her room.
According to the report, when her attendants did not get any response from inside the room after knocking the gate so long, they reported to the defence authorities in the camp.
Later, the authorities broke the door and found the woman officer hanging from ceiling fan. She was immediately rushed to the hospital but the doctors declared her brought dead.
The report says that Captain Megha Razdan was facing some problems with her immediate officers in the same unit. Further, a court of inquiry has also been ordered to look into the matter as officials have also found a suicide note in the room.
There have been several incidents of officers and jawans committing suicide particularly in insurgency-affected areas. This was probably the second incident of committing suicide by woman army officer as in June, 2006 Lieutenant Sushmita Chakraborty had allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself with a rifle in Udhampur. She was associated with an Army Service Corps (ASC) battalion in the Northern Command.
