CBI announced the Quattrocchi's detention after 17 days of event: Report

Indian Express has reported that Quattrocchi’s son Massimo was in India when his father was detained in Argentina. Massimo left India last Thursday and CBI announced about the detention on Friday. CBI announced the news of detention 17 days after the event.

Indian express has also reported that the visit of Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi from February 10 to 15 could be one reason behind the late announcement of the detention.

However, the main reason behind the late announcement is still unknown. An earlier report also had speculated that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh knew about the detention of Quattrocchi.

Massimo, Quattrochi’s son, is a private equity consultant on mergers and acquisitions. He was in India and stayed in a hotel on February 19 and checked out on February 21. He took the flight from New Delhi on February 22. However, the detail of his schedule in India is not known

On the other hand, the CBI team is preparing itself with all possible paper works to meet March 7 deadline for the extradition of Ottavio Quattrocchi.

CBI has planned to send a team of two officers to Argentina on February 28. The officers will have all necessary and legal documents with them to bring Quattrocchi to India.

The Department of Personnel and Training, which oversees the agency, is likely to complete the essential paper work till Tuesday. After that the 2-member CBI team will leave for Argentina.
