
According to a report, at least 20 people received several injuries on Tuesday when they clashed with police in Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred when some people from a community were protesting against the beating of their community members by another group of people during the celebrations of India’s victory over Pakistan in Twenty20 World Cup.
On Tuesday, when the angry protesters were protesting against Monday clash, Police fired in the air and used teargas to disperse the protesters in Rajouri district. More than 1000 people, including the supporters of VHP, Bajrang Dal, RSS and BJP, came on the streets in Rajouri city. They were asking to take action against the group of the people who had beaten the people celebrating Indian victory in the Twenty20 World cup.
The problem had started on Monday night when India registered scintillating victory over Pakistan in the final match of the tournament. Indian supporters started celebrating bursting crackers on the streets. According to the reports, some persons belonging to another community started pelting stones on the group of people celebrating India’s victory over Pakistan.
On Tuesday, 20 persons, including an SP received injuries during the police-protesters clash. The police force was trying to halt the angry protesters from moving forward but the mob forcefully broke the cordon and continued with the rally. Later, the police started firing in the air and used tear gas and batons to disperse the mob. The police action irked the mob and they started pelting stones and clashed directly with police.
Now, the City police have issued the prohibitory orders in Rajouri district. 14 persons have been arrested for causing violence in the city. CRPF and paramilitary forces have been deployed here to control the law and order and the situation is now under control.
