
Beijing administration has given an indication to India that China was ready to take Indian initiative for membership of the United Nations Security Council in a more cooperative way.
Earlier, China had never said openly either in support of India or against India on the UNSC membership issue. This was being said that China’s positive indication have come out partly because China did not want to give Japan any chance to play bigger role in the United Nations.
On Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told Pranab Mukherjee, during their meeting in New York, that China wanted to develop a mayture bilateral relationship with India.
He said that a strategic partnership between both mighty neighbors should be an intensive part of the long-term goals of both the countries. Yang also suggested China and India have handle the bilateral relations from a considered and a long-term perspective.
According to the Chinese official agency Xinhua, Yang stressed on the need to maintain high-level bilateral exchanges, to conduct regular security talks and to handle the border issue carefully. He also said that there is a need to have strong cooperation between the two countries in the United Nations on the major international issues.
