
The West Bengal’s CID team has nabbed three more Harkat-ul-Jehad al-Islam’s (HuJI) militants, allegedly associates of India chief Jalaluddin who were arrested in Lucknow on Saturday. They CID team was following the militants and caught them from districts adjoining the Kolkata.
According to CID DIG Rajib Kumar, the team has nabbed the three militants named as Akbar, Azizul Rahman and Mokhtar who are linked with the terrorist Jalaluddin. The CID team came to know about the location of the three militants during the police interrogation of Jalaluddin in Lucknow.
He said that Jalaluddin is the main suspect behind the abduction of Khadim Shoes owner Partho Roy Burman. The three detained militants were also linked to the kidnapping case. Now, the West Bengal CID has sent a 3-member team to Lucknow for Jalaluddin’s transit remands and it may take 3-4 days to clear out some legal formalities.
On July 21, 2001, Partho Roy Burman was kidnapped for a ransom demand of Rs five crore. The family had reportedly paid the ransom money and freed him from kidnappers.
According to the police theory, Jalaluddin was the brain behind the abduction plan and he was also actively involved in the bomb blast in Shramjeevi train and bomb blast in Sankatmochan temple at Varansi.
