Cricket Maniac, Magic Monday ahead

The Indian cricket team has sent Australia tumbling out of the Twenty20 World Championship and set up a dream final with favorite rival Pakistan after scoring a thrilling semi-final by 15 runs at Kingsmead. India played three continuous high-quality games and each performance was a little better than the previous one.

The Saturday performance sent India for a mouthwatering Monday-afternoon finale where the biggest match of the tournament would decide who would be the World Twenty20 champions.

People, who missed chance to watch second semi-final cricket match actually missed the opportunity to see the roaring young Indians in the middle after so long against the opponents like Australia. It was tough to believe that Australia lost to India in crucial semifinal match. But yes, it happened and it was a cracker of an encounter. India played great cricket.

The performance against Australia was remarkable for several reasons. The batting performances, bowling and fielding, all astonished the mad cricket fans in India. It was tough to talk about faults showed by Indian team. The victory was special because the team managed to hold its nerve in a crucial knockout game

Australians were not very far behind from winning moment but thanks to the deadly bowling by Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh and Joginder Sharma in last three overs. They did not loose their nerves and showed the world that the young aggressive Indians were very much capable to bounce back by beating England, South Africa and now Australia after a loss against New Zealand.

Yuvraj’s performance was excellently remarkable in the last two games. In his first game, he had blasted six sixes in an over from England’s Stuart Broad. In the Saturday match, he smashed five boundaries and five sixes to send the Indian crowd into a frenzy. An explosive bowling performance by Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan took them past Australia and into the final of the tournament.

Indians’ aggression to register victory against Australian side best reflected in their fielding. People know that in this particular department of the game Indian side hardly performed well. But times are changing, as they should.

For me, the best moment came twice before the winning time when Sreesanth clean-bowled world’s two best openers Adam Gilchrist and Mathew Hayden with his brutal deliveries. Sresanth’s exposed aggressiveness was saying.. Yes we can do it..

While both Asian teams India and Pakistan are triumphing in their respective achievements in the tournament. Both the teams are under no daydreams about how difficult this last hurdle is going to be. It is going to be a final clash in the tournament to decide the champion of twenty20, the shortest form of the game. Most importantly, it is going to be an India-Pakistan final so, the stakes are upped dramatically.
