Dalit groups in Maharashtra have blamed the state government for non-performing its duty over the dalit massacre happened in Khairlanji (Bhandara district) one Month ago. 4 members of a single dalit family including two women brutally killed by some strongmen over land feud in Khairlanji.

The incident had happened on September 29 and the dalit groups have blamed that, the Maharashtra government had not acted against upper caste villagers who committed the crime.

In the reaction, dalits became violent on Monday and burnt a police outpost, a police jeep and about 25 two-wheelers.

The Times of India has reported that in the violence six policemen became injured in Kamptee. The administration clamped indefinite curfew here on Tuesday.

The angry mob attacked the police party and the Kamptee police station too. In reaction the police lathicharged them and used tear-gas shells and air firing to disperse them.

The TOI also reported that mob attacked the house of local congress MLA Nitin Raut too.

However, Nitin Raut himself is a Dalit and he is the person who raised the voice about the incident. Attacking his house clearly shows that somewhere there is a factionalism figures within the dalits too on this issue.

The disturbed areas are Wadi, near-by Mumbai-Howrah national highway, Hinghana T-point, at the outskirts of Nagpur city, Kamptee, Indora, in north Nagpur. Mob burnt the police jeep of ACP N D Gore that was parked in the Pachpaoli police station.

The senior police officers have said that the situation is under control in those areas. At the same time, Some people are saying that the situation is being ignited and politicised in view of the local bodies’ elections are expected to happen in this month.
