Delhi plans to bid for hosting Asian Games 2014

Delhi is trying hard to prepare itself for hosting the Commonwealth Games 2010. However, several projects are still yet to be started. According to a report, Delhi is planning to bid for the Asian Games, 2014 now. For this, the government has started the necessary process as well.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit presided an important meeting to prepare the bid document for the Asian Games, 2014.

She said after the meeting;

Delhi is going to present a forceful bid in the Olympic Council of Asia meet at Kuwait scheduled on April 16 and 17, 2007. After the Kuwait meeting, it would be decided that who would host of the Asian Games, 2014.

Minister of State for External Affairs, E Ahmed, Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi, Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh, Delhi Urban Development Minister AK Walia, Chief Secretary R Narayanaswami and other senior officers of Delhi government would go to participate in the presentation in Kuwait.

It is being reported that South Korea is also going to bid for hosting Asiad 2014. The Indian delegation is preparing hard to present New Delhi as better host city.

Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi would possibly host the presentation from Indian side.

The presentation will have the central theme as ‘Go for Delhi’ and the city’s achievements till date. In that presentation, the ongoing and completed projects for the Commonwealth Games would be added to get upper-hand on other participants.
