India :
A government employee in Tamilnadu has been booked under the recently introduced Domestic Violence act 2005. Joseph is an employee of the public sector Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage Board. His wife filed a complain against him for harrasing her.
Police arrested Joseph late on Friday night on the charge of beating her wife with a stick and an umbrella after a quarrel. Benedict Mary, his wife, has been admitted to hospital following serious injuries.
The actual abuse or the threat of abuse such as physical, sexual, verbal, emotional or economic now comes under domestic violence act 2005. Any kind of harassment for unlawful dowry demands on spouse and her relatives would also come under this Act.

Swarup, You are right but once let the act do its job, the loopholes would certainly come out like this. Now, it would be the government’s responsibility to take care of the act as well as the people to whom the act has been established without any biasness.

If any LAW maker does not have the sufficient knowledge, then why they make such a stupid LAW??
The question is unanswered, what punishment you will recommended, when a dishonest daughter in law ( Modern Supnakhas ) , abuse our mother and sister ??
The Question is unanswered , if your dishonest wife ( Modern Suparnakhs ) , have a adultery relationship and if you asked , why what punishment in this domestic violence bill provides ??
The question is unanswered , if a Modern Ravan , bring his girl friend , how a legal wife will through her out of house ??
The question is unanswered , when a person know that his wife can through his all family member in the name of Domestic violence from their own house , will any one will dare to marry a girl who does not have a house in her name ??
This is a very badly drafted Act and the definition of domestic violence , mention as Verbal abuse , mental harassment and economical abuse and the word relative and other Women is the problem , which the LAW maker are not ready to accept .
If any LAW maker does not have the sufficient knowledge , then why they make such a stupid LAW ??
So, well come this domestic violence Act and ensure that Indian women should dig their own feet , the way today in 498A case 70 % people are behind the bar without any investigation are women only !!!!
Also a lot of Child have to Born out of Wed lock and those Women have to beg a Part time Father for thier Child , the way today’s so called Western Womens are doing , as their Wester Men got the hit and came to 21st Century Reality.
Will Our Indian Men will Prefer to sleep in 16th Century mind set or will weak up and accept the 21st Century reality ?
Indian Womens allready weaken Up and gone far far ahead of 21st Century!!!!

Why our law makers are not making Domestic Harmony Act, Instead Domestic Violence Act.
Because they want to break Indian Family system,coz this law is totally against men.
If law makers really want to make good laws then they would have made gender balanced laws instead gender biased laws.
this law portrait all men as villains,even they know there are many women villians are, as we seen from Dowry law misuse.

Rudolph, there is 498A for female abusers. And I do agree that harmony needs to be focussed on but relief from domestic violence is a prerequisite for that. Yes the excuters of law need to be sensitive to harmony so that they dont unnecessarily break up families. And i can’t quite ..err..make out what Swarup Sarkar is attempting to articulate.. any kind of law against abuse is good isn’t it Swarup? Then what’s the problem?

As per me Crime is crime and the punishment should be as per crime. LAW should be in some assumption that all the Husband family are criminal and all the Wife family are Raja Harsih Chandra.
Then only the real justice will happen to the real victim.

Do not worry , you may say us stupid, as we campin for ”Domestic Harmony Act” , we will acknowlodge the same and will proudly say ,
we want to empower our Wife , as thier parents have not done that.
As discussed yesterday night , I would like to see my wife the future Prime minister of India , but for that she have to study ,get education and to be independent first .
And we are here to provide all the support , what thier parents have failed and prefers to teach to do the Legal Terrorism.
”Book the working hostel and Professonal Course for them , make them independent from so called Abala Nari”.. No wastage of money in the
name of Maintance/allomoney or Divroce degree.
”Once again , first a women should be proved that she is a good human before to be termed a wife to became a member of save indian
family , and for your kind information , our 70 % volenter are some ones wife , only difference that , they had sucessuflly completed
the responsibility of a wife and proved to all .
- If any dishonest wife or dughter in law abuse your age old parents , pregent sister .. as per me they does dont deserve any place in the save indian family campain .”

Few days Back one of SIF member told me Swarup , “ Till date Indina Women had been protected by their Near and Dear ones. Now after this AK47 ( Domestic Violence Act ) , they will be protected by so called Protection Officer , Lawyers, Police , Judges..etc”
But She also asked me, “ Who will Protect Indian Women from those so called Protection Officers, Lawyers, Police , Judges ..etc”
