
The Manmohan Singh government is feeling heat over the nuke deal from the opposition and the UPA’s biggest ally, left parties both. NDA convener George Fernandes’s remarks against Manmohan Singh caused the Rajya Sabha adjournment till 2:30 PM on Friday.
Earlier, Fernandes had said that the PM had betrayed the nation by continuous bluffing. He had said:
If it were in China, they would have settled it with one bullet in his head. After what, he has done, the PM has neither the morale nor the political right to remain in his position.
Congress MPs registered their strong protest against Frenandes’s remarks on PM. However, Fernandes has said he stands by his statement. He even said that the Prime Minister is a traitor because he signed the Indo-US nuclear deal.

In reaction, Rajya Sabha member Praveen Rashtrapal said that a member of the other House has insulted the PM of this country.
Other Congress MPs supported Rashtrapal and they forced the adjournment of the upper house.
They demanded the arresting of Fernandes. They asked Home Minister Shivraj Patil to lodge an FIR against Fernandes.
The situation was almost same in the lower house as the Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi criticised Fernandes’ statement against the PM demanded for an apology from former defence minister.
Dasmunsi said:
Either George is mentally sound or not. If he is not then we have nothing to say, if he is then the Government condemns the statement. The Leader of Opposition should also condemn the statement.
