Destiny smiles on Sanjay Dutt again. The TADA court has extended the bail to January 18.
Earlier, Dutt was given 2 day relief from court. The court said that Sanjay Dutt will have to surrender before the court on January 18 with Rusi Mullah, Zebunisa Kazi, Yusuf Nalwallah, Rubina Bhivandiwala, Keris Adjania, Imtiaz Ghawte and S N Thapa.
On January 18, the court will announce the quantum of sentence to all these accused. Earlier, Sanjay Dutt was convicted on November 28 in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case under the Arms Act.
Later, he had filed an application for granting more time on various grounds to surrender until such time the Court may permit.
Dutt had urged to the court that his daughter,Trishala, is coming to India and he needed to make arrangements for his daughter`s education in the US.
He has said he would appeal to the provisions of Section 4 of the Probation of Offenders Act at the time of making submissions on his quantum of sentence.
Under this provision, he can be released on bond on assurance of good conduct for a period not less than three years.
Now, his lawyers would ask the court to give Dutt a pardon on the grounds of good behavior he has showed in last 13 years.
