Hindus celebrate Mahashivratri in Katasraj temple in Pakistan

This year the Hindu-religious festival Mahashivratri is being celebtared with great joy not even in India but in Pakistan too.

This is happening for the first time after Independence that the festival is going to be celebrated with much elaboration across the border in Pakistan.

As many as 173 Hindus have gone to Lahore to offer prayers at the Katasraj temple today. A 3-day long ceremony has already been started in the Katasraj temple.

However, Indian pilgrims should have special permission to visit the temple.

Earlier, the government of Pakistan had donated Rs 6 cr for the renovation of the main portion of the temple.

The Katasraj temple is situated in Chakwal district in Pakistan. The temple has historical importance since the days of Mahabharata and famous for the Lord Shiv temple.
