
The deal between Vodafone and Essar group has been reached to the final stage now. Arun Sarin, Vodafone chief, has confirmed that Vodafone has completed the Hutch deal with Essar group.
The Hutch operation in India would be called as Vodafone Essar now. Ravi Ruia would be the chairman of the new company while Asim Ghosh would retain the post of CEO in the company.
Later, Arun Sarin said that the new entity would be called as Vodafone-Essar with Ravi Ruia as the chairman in the new board.
However, Analjit Singh and Asim Ghosh would retain their position in the company and Asim will continue to be the chief executive officer (CEO) of the new company.
According to the rule of the new company, Asim Ghosh, CEO of Vodafone-Essar would report to Paul Donavan who is the CEO of Vodafone’s emerging markets division.
Now, the deal is waiting for the approval from government of India. Now, the Vodafone-Essar would go for rapid expansion its operations in India. The company has planned to accelerate capital network to enhance mobility and the business in Indian market.
The company has also planned to offer low-cost handsets and it may introduce various features, such as money-transfer through mobile, in India.’
