If you become irritated with the series of advertisements on TV, while watching your favourite programs, here is good news for you. The duration of long advertisements may be cut short now. The Information and & Broadcasting Ministry has issued a directives to the channels as well as production companies to limit the duration of advertisements to twelve minutes per hour.
The Ministry has specified that in his 31 notification that commercial advertisements will have to be restricted to ten minutes per sixty minutes. Two minutes will be given for the channel’s self-promotional programs.
The Conditional Access System (CAS) from December 31 in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata will enforce the limitation on the commercial ads. The grounds is that since CAS and the introduction of set-top boxes will ensure a scientifically determined revenue stream from subscribers, ads on TV should be limited to a ‘bearable level’.

Alternatively, viewers have learned to tolerate it and don’t care enough to change their viewing preferences for it, so why bother restricting the ad time.
Either way, why waste time setting rules for every little thing? Aren’t there bigger problems to solve?
