The International Cricket Council (ICC) has framed two charges against Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq during the fourth Test against England at The Oval. The first one is to change the condition of the ball and the second charge is to disrupt the game. The hearing will take place on coming Friday.
Ball tampering charge comes under level two charges under ICC code of conduct. The charge for disrupting the game comes under the level three of the code of conduct.
Pakistan had decided to come in the ground after tea after they were docked five runs for ball tampering by the umpires during the oval test. They again remained in the changing room when the umpires went out a second time 15 minutes later. Later the Pakistani team took to the field but the umpires declared that the match is abandoned.
If Inzamam proves at fault, he would face a fine of up to his entire match fee and a ban of maximum four Test or eight one-dayers, whichever is played earlier.
However, Injamam-ul Haq has said that this was the question of the nation’s pride.
It seems very sad when the senior players of cricket such as Inzamam relate the games with national pride. Cricket is a game and players should play in good spirit.
If anyone has any problem during the game, he should go through the right channel. Leaving the ground is a bad manner that hurts the game badly.
It was not the question of decision taken by Darrell Hair It was the question of the spirit of the game. The charges of ball tampering is not new for the Pakistani team, history shows this. What happened this time that provoked Inzamam to take such kind of decision during the game.
We have the example of Rahul Dravid who was served out punishment for ‘ball tampering’ in more ludicrous circumstances. Therefore, it would be better for cricket to take the game in game spirit, nothing else.
