Increased number of Polio cases are causing major concern among the health authorities in north India. Because of an outbreak of polio in Uttar Pradesh they are asking repeatedly to Muslim leaders to come forward and support the immunization drive. Almost 69 percent of the registered cases caught in Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh.
Illiteracy makes Polio return to India?

More than 254 cases of polio have been registered during the period January 1-September 1 this year in Uttar Pradesh. Illiteracy among the people, specifically in Muslim community, is said to be the biggest hurdle in the immunization drive. In rest of India, there were only 29 cases registered during this time.

There are the reports coming of at least 11 polio cases detected in some border village of Bangladesh and it might spread to Tripura.

There are the rumors spread in Muslim population for years that the polio vaccine will be working as a form of birth control. This is the conspiracy to restrict the Muslim birth rate.

Sometimes health workers are beaten and refused to get entry in Muslim dominated areas. The health officials are worrying and trying hard to make them aware about the polio disease.
