The diplomats and political leaders across the border generally watch the Indian growth with great surprise it seems, but they found it hard to recognize the growth because of decade-old contention. It can be said that the political leadership in Pakistan does not allow anyone in the country to recognize Indian development saga.
However, it comes out from the Pakistan’s envoy in US that may be called as unexpected. According to the report, Pakistan’s envoy to the US has described India as modern and a role model in democracy and economic development.
During his interview in USA Today, Pakistan’s ambassador to US Mahmud Ali Durrani has recognized Indian growth. In the interview, he also commented Pakistani nuclear scientist A Q Khan that khan is not a national hero. He said:
We would have strung him from the tallest tree.
He even accepted that the people of Pakistan do see India with a different approach now. He said that even in Pakistan, people make these comparisons. In democracy, India has become a role model. In economic development, it has also become role model. However, on the question of a secular state, India has fallen off. It can be rated as a role model.
At the same time, he expressed his hope that some day Pakistan would beat India in democracy and economic development both. On Indian growth he said that Indians and Pakistanis are similar people. Indian had good destiny that it got a narrow family leadership that guided the country for 30 years in positive direction.
According to him, Pakistan was not so lucky and it did not have a well-developed political leadership as it was in India at the time of independence. He showed hope by saying that they would have been the same because we are very similar people.
