
India’s demand for permanent seat in United Nations Security Council (UNSC), representing the developing world, has received a big boost when China, Britain and now France said in different statements that they wanted India in the UNSC in keeping views on current situation of world.
Earlier, China supported India’s bid to get permanent seat in United Nations Security Council, then Britain also extended the crucial support to Indian demand to be inducted in UNSC as permanent member.
Now, the French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont has also said that France wanted to see India as a global player in its true sense. He said:
India deserves a permanent membership in the UNSC and as a full-fledged member in G-8 nations.
Jerome Bonnafont said it while inaugurating the Schneider Electric’s plant near Hyderabad that India’s contributions in the economic and technological development to the world was considerable. He said that France wanted to be India’s strategic partner because both countries shared several common things such as democracy, culture, freedom and economy.
Earlier, China had indicated that it was ready to take Indian initiative for membership of the UNSC in a more cooperative way. This was being said that China’s positive indication have come out partly because China did not want to give Japan any chance to play bigger role in the United Nations.
Later, British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said that the British government would enthusiastically support Indian demand for a permanent place in the UNSC because India’s induction in the UNSC would be helpful for removing global inequalities in the world.
