India is a peace loving country and always has tried to establish peace and harmony in the Indian sub-continent. It might not be digested by some of India’s neighboring countries but Sri Lanka has at least hailed India’s role in the process to end conflict in that country.

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohita Bogollagama, during his three-day working visit to US, has praised the role played by India to do conflict management in the island country. He said that India is not only a part and parcel of the peace process but was also very supportive of it.

He also said that he had discussed with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on January 31, 2007 on the ongoing process and further necessary steps to end the conflict in the country.

Bogollagama said after had a meeting with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that Sri Lanka has the closest bilateral relations with India since long. India has made a major sacrifice at the hands of the LTTE earlier. The country has lost their people and a national leader Rajiv Gandhi.

During his visit, Bogollagama had discussed with senior officials of the Bush administration on several issues that ranges from bilateral, regional to global level. He urged to the US administration to restrict LTTE from raising money in the US.

India on the several occasions has cautiously supported the Sri Lanka government on the issue of Tamil rebels. India has maintained better bilateral relation with Sri Lanka despite of LTTE’s rising influence in Sri Lanka.

After the intelligence report, that anti-Indian terrorist organizations are taking support of LTTE to grow their network in South India, the government of India has started co-coordinating with the Sri Lanka for the anti-terrorism drive in the sub-continent with greater concentration.
