
According to the report, Kuwait had decided to disallow landing of Air India and ‘Indian’ flights at its capital from July 1. Later, the civil aviation authorities from both countries started crucial talks to solve the issues regarding the landing of Indian flights in Kuwait.
Just before ending the deadline set by Kuwaiti aviation authorities, both countries reached on a final decision to end the possible disruption of the flights schedules.
According to the MoU signed on Saturday night by both the countries’ civil aviation authorities from India and Kuwait have signed the MoU on Saturday night in Kuwait City following by long negotiations.
The negotiations were on track and both the countries have also agreed to increase capacity entitlements of each side from 8,320 seats to 12,000 seats a week.
Air-India operates 12 flights every week to Kuwait, and ‘Indian’ operates six flights on the same sector from different destinations in India. The government of India has granted access to Kuwaiti carriers to three additional points in India such as Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bangalore.
The operations in Hyderabad and Kolkata would be started with immediate effect and the access to Bangalore would be started from winter 2008.
According to the MoU, both the countries would work in cooperation for future traffic rights also. The capacity entitlements will be there with the help of direct India-Kuwait market, not from third countries.
After the meeting, India’s ambassador to Kuwait M Ganapathi said that the air services will continue freely and unhindered without any fear of the disruption in flights.
