India is ready to host the Indian Grand Prix in 2009. Suresh Kalmadi has announced that India has started planning to host F1 race in Delhi as soon as in 2009. The Indian Olympics Association would will be responsible to make the dream possible in due time.
Indian audiences have showed great interest in the Formula-1 race in recent past. People know about the terms such as Ferrari, Michael Schumacher, and Fernando Alonso.
The participation of Narain Karthikeyan in Formula-1 race in 2005 with Jordan team, Indians just dived to know what is the formula-1. Karthikeyan became first Indian driver in F-1 race and made the Indians mad for the game.
Most of the Indians, including me, is great fan of Michael Schumacher and Ferrari and the organizers of the game has come to know that the country of more than one billion people has enormous potential to make the game popular in the south Asian region. Now, India is going to be one of the prime markets for Formula-1 in coming days.
Just have the look on the statement of F-1 boss Bernie Ecclestone on it. He said:
It is not vital to Formula One to be in the United States. There are bigger markets for us to be in other parts of the world. We could be in India soon instead of the United States.
Former CM of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Babu Naidu had initiated a talk with F-1 organizers for hosting the Formula-1 race but the plan went off because he was thrown out of the power.
As we know, the Formula One Association has its lots of terms and conditions to host the race. However, the IOA president Kalmadi has said that India would achieve the capability to satisfy the terms and condition lots of Infrastructure requirements pertaining to travel, accommodation of teams and supporting crews before September 20, 2007.
There should be 5000 five star hotel rooms for total crew including all teams and many more in the host city. Now, the question is that would India make itself ready to host the F-1 race in 2009 just before the schedule of 2010 commonwealth games. The preparations for commonwealth games are not going up to the mark and now the need of huge land to build the track around Delhi may be the major hurdle in the dream.
