Not only every Indian but almost everyone from India to the United States is praying day and night to God for Sunita William’s safe return to earth with the other crew members. After spending six months in space, the NASA space shuttle Atlantis is preparing to come back to the earth on June 21.
But, 10-cm tear in the thermal blanket of the shuttle Atlantis, which was created during lift off on June 8, has caused worries to the scientists in NASA and the people everywhere.
Sunita’s parents Deepak and Bonnie Pandya are looking composed and calm on the damage in the Atlantis. They are hopeful for the safe return of Sunita and other crewmembers.
Pandya said:
We are sure of her safety. We are not at all concerned or worried about the 10-cm tear in the thermal blanket of the shuttle Atlantis, although we were a bit apprehensive, but the way NASA is handling the whole issue, there’s no room for worry.
Pandya said further that Sunita has not showed any concern over the matter. If there were cause for worry, she would have spoken about it. Sunita has lived dangerously and done several unbelievable things both under water as Naval Aviator. She has flown test flights and has worked as Aircraft handler also. We are not worried at all.

Bonnie Pandya said that Sunita has logged over 2770 flight hours in more than 30 different aircraft. After that NASA had selected her as astronaut in 1998.
Later, they said that they have great faith in God and the prayers for her safe return from everyday would not go waste.
Nasa has installed polycam in the living room of her parents and also in her husband’s room. Her husband Michael Williams is a Federal Marshall who lives in Washigton DC. They are in constant touch with Sunita her through the polycam.
Micheal said:
We talk to her almost every week, and it is exciting to watch her floating away all the time, going about her work. That’s good enough for us.
In the wake of the damage in the space shuttle, people, living everywhere, have showed great concern for the safe return of the Atlantis Crew members. No one wants to see the repeat of the Columbia accident, in which Kalpana Chawla, with other crew members, had died just before Columbia’s entry into earth’s gravitational orbit.
