
The prediction for the earthquake is now possible. Scientists at the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) in Hyderabad have predicted a low intensity earthquake in the Koyna region of Maharastra. This happened for the first time that the earthquake was predicted.
The Journal of Geological Society India has published the detail of the prediction. Seismologist Harsh Gupta and five other associates predicted on 15 may of coming earthquake of magnitude 4 in 10-km radius of Koyna within the next 15 days.
On May 21, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitudes rattled the area and proved the prediction right.
