The government of India has rejected any kind of Al-Qaeda threat over diplomatic missions in New Delhi. The Al-Qaeda had showed a video on Sunday and had claimed that India and US diplomatic missions were it’s legitimate targets.
According to the report, Al-Qaeda’s production subsidiary As-Sahab had complied the video in which Adam Gaddahn, a wanted American member of al-Qaeda, said that the targeting of ‘Tel Aviv, Moscow and Delhi’ is Al-Qaeda’s legitimate right. The narrator accused India of slaughtering more than 100,000 Muslims in Kashmir and the US helped India to do so.
Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said on this report:
There is no confirmed news of any such threat till now. Indian forces are alert to avert any such attempt and the state machinery are always ready to face any threat.
I want to appeal to the people that they need not worry about such threats.
Earlier, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan had said that the al-Qaeda’s network is present in India through its subsidiary organizations such as Lashkar-e-Toiba and many more. He had also accepted that Al-Qaeda had even conducted reconnaissance missions to India but later aborted the operation.
Narayanan had said during an interview that the terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba are part of the al-Qaeda. So in a way, the al-Qaeda cells are already here in India.
