
Indian army is ready to train a group of 25 personnel from Maldivian army how to tackle the terror attacks and how to make counter attacks plans. The Maldivian army personnel would undergo counter insurgency combat training from Indian army. According to the report, all the 25 personnel have been reached the Indian army’s prominent Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School premises.
The Warfare school is located in Vargante in Mizoram. The Maldivian army personnel would undergo four weeks of intensive course in Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorist operations in this warfare school.
The army personnel from the Maldivian Special forces have come for the second time in last 20 years. They would be trained by Indian Security Personnel specialized in Counter Insurgency Warfare. Earlier, the Indian paramilitary forces had trained the Maldivian special services personnel after the military operation was attempted to take over Maldives by a Sri Lankan Tamil group.
Brig R M Painuly, Commandant of the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, welcomed the Maldivian army personnel and said that the joint training will be helpful for both forces to tackle the danger of global terrorism in the region.
The Counter insurgency Warfare School has trained personnel from 18 countries, such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Mynmar, Uzbekistan and South Africa, about the tactics to counter terrorist activities and their plans. The School has also hold the joint anti- terrorist exercises by Indo-US army personnel and Indian and British security forces as well.
