Despite of Worries showed by US administration on the Indian demands on Indo-US civil nuclear deal, both countries are ready to hold more talks to resolve the hurdles that are coming on the implementation of the deal that was signed by the US president in December last year. Now, the officials from both countries would sit and discuss the matter in South Africa.
Earlier, the scenario was looking differed as some US administration officials and nuclear experts had said that Indian demands would strengthen, not lessen, its military nuclear capabilities. US showed its concern on the developing India’s closer ties with Iran on several occasion.
The meeting is expected during the sidelines of the Nuclear Suppliers Group plenary meeting that has been begun in Cape Town from today. During the meet, both countries would try to sort out differences on nuclear agreement. India has showed some differences over the text of the 123 bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement.
According to US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Franklin Lavin, India and US both have responded in good faith. He said that this is not fact India is showing it’s unwilling on the nuclear deal.
India has showed main objection that US would not continue nuclear co-operation if India would carry out more nuclear tests in future. The US Congress would possibly vote on the 123 agreement during the Indian PM Manmohan Singh’s meeting with President George Bush later this year.
