
In a shocking incident, an Indian worker, R Ganesh, 28, has died in Malaysia. Ganesh was originally from Tamil Nadu and the report says that he was beaten and starved for eight months in Malaysia where he had gone to work. This incident is being said as one of the most traumatic cases of migrant worker abuse in years.
The New Straits Times has reported that Ganesh died on Friday in a hospital in northern Kedah state, where he was getting treatment. Three days earlier, some villagers had found him in bushes in an interior part in a jungle in serious condition. They rescued him and admitted him to the hospital.
Further, the police have arrested a sauce factory owner, his wife and their adult son for their suspicious involvement in hurting Ganesh so badly. According to the police, Ganesh’s employer and employer’s family allegedly beaten up Ganesh in their factory in Penang state. Later, they had poured hot water over him and did not provide him food for 20 days.
Before dying, Ganesh told the newspaper that he was forced to work for 16 hours per day. He accused the employer and the family member for not giving him food in ast 20 days. He had also said they were abusing him for the past eight months.
He was quoted in the newspaper as;
They hit me with sticks, rubber hose and iron rod. I was also deprived of food and water. They chained my hands and legs before locking me up in a dark room in their house every night.
According to him, when his employer put him in the car and driven him to jungle, he had thought that he would be killed now.
