
Indra Nooyi has ranked as the 4rth most powerful woman and Sonia Gandhi has ranked as 13th most powerful woman among the list of 100 most powerful woman in the world released by the Forbes magazine. Indra Nooyi was at 28th rank in 2005.
Forbes described Nooyi’s profile as one of the very few people that handled the presidential or the chief financial officer job at a $100 billion company brilliantly.
It says on Sonia Gandhi’s profile as she is heading the ruling party in India as opposition leader to pro-business Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The joint managing directors of ICICI Bank Lalita Gupte and Kalpana Morparia, are jointly at 93rd rank. Vidya Chhabbria, chairperson of the Jumbo Group based in Dubai, is ranked at 95the place in the list of 100.
However, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel was not even in the list last year, has pushed US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to second place and became this year’s most powerful woman.
53 women are from the United States and five from Britain in the list. Here are the ranks of some other powerful women in the world.
