‘The minorities are not being trusted In India. They hardly could be seen in the Intelligence agencies of India’. The weekly magazine Outlook has reported this story this week.

The magazine says that there is barely any Muslim working in India’s well-structured external intelligence agencies. There are no Muslims and Sikhs are working in personal security of the India’s top most leaders.

This is the situation of the minority in India even the post of President, Prime Minister and the Chairperson of rulling UPA coalition are headed by persons from minority sections.

According to the magazine, India’s Muslims were not trusted because of fears that they could have sympathized with neighboring countries.

It revealed that the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) did not recruit single Muslim since 1969.

The domestic agency Intelligence Bureau (IB) had a small number of Muslim officers in the organisatiion.

However, an intelligence official said that Outlook is presenting wrong information.

The magazine has published the data given by the defence ministry that there are just 29,000 Muslims in India’s 1.3-million strong armed forces.

According to former RAW chief, Girish Chandra Saxena,

The intelligence agencies need Muslims in the organization. Very few people have knowledge of Urdu or Arabic in The RAW.
