
Lata Mangeshkar, the living legend of India, has been selected for the French government’s top most civilian honor. She, often termed as melody queen, will be awarded the Knight of the Legion Award in mid-December in Mumbai by French Ambassador, Dominique Gerard.
The French government has selected the legendry Indian female playback singer Lata Mangeshkar for her contribution to the world of cinema from more than 50 long years.
Earlier, the late filmmaker Satyajit Ray and another marvel of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan have been awarded the honor.
The Legion of Honor is the highest distinction France grants to its citizen or a foreigner. Napoleon Bonaparte had instituted in 1802 to honour the people who serves the humanity.
