
According to a report, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist on Wednesday. A senior police official said that the terrorist was actually a self-styled commander and all India coordinator of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The security forces had received information about his hiding in Doda district.
The Rashtriya Rifles personnel raided Banderwah area of Doda district early on Wednesday to capture Abu Umar, the LeT terrorist. The security forces started the search operation and the police and troops of 4 Rashtriya Rifles threw tight cordon around the area. In return, Umar started firing on the force and Umar was killed in the gunbattle.
The police official said Umar had lobbed a grenade on a house when the inmates refused for hiding him. The grenade exploded near the door killing a woman inmate in the blast.
The report says that Abu Umar was the man who coordinated the lashkar’s terror operations in the country. He was involved in a large number of militancy related activities in Doda and in the Kashmir Valley.
He was also responsible for the killing of a Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailey Singh last month. Senior Superintendent of Police (Doda) Manohar Singh Gill said that Umar had killed the DSP when he was out for an operation in Baderwah area last month.
