
Hyderabad city administration went on high alert when the Andhra Pradesh DGP M A Basith received a letter warned of possible terror strikes in Hyderabad on September 25.
On Friday, the Andhra DGP received the letter that warned of terror strikes in Hyderabad on the day of Ganesha immersions, September 25. The sender’s name was not mentioned in the letter. The city administration has gone on high alert.
According to the report, the letter is written in English and claims that one person from the Old City, Zakir, has been assigned the task to execute blasts in the city. The letter says that Zakir is a resident of Hafeezbaba Nagar and he has some links with the Harkat-Ul-Jihadi Islami (HuJI).
According to police reports, Zakir was also involved in a case of illegally possessing arms. The police had registered a case against him at the Saidabad police station three years ago. The letter said further that Zakir was given Rs 50 lakh to execute the terror acts. Zakir, his son and 10 other associates have been assigned the work to execute the terror attacks.
The letter also said that the terrorists were planning to strike at six places, and that they were hatching a conspiracy to inflict major damages and create large scale disturbances.
The letter has also named the terror targets such as the Bhagya Lakshmi temple at Char Kaman, a place of worship at Chaderghat, and the Santoshi Maa temple opposite police commissioner’s office in Basheerbagh.
A telephone number and the registration number of a car used by the terrorists were also mentioned in the letter. The copies of the letter have also been sent to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and the to the media also.
DGP Basisth said:
We are examining the contents written in the letter and checking their authenticity. There is no need for panic. We have put in place adequate security measures to maintain law and order in the city.
