The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has indicated that the footprints of the Hyderabad’s Mecca mosque blast might be in Jharkhand and West Bengal. The investigating team is zeroing in on two suspects in the blast case.
Both of them had reportedly bought the Hutch SIM cards from a small town on the border of the Jharkhand and West Bengal. The SIM cards were used in the Nokia handsets that had worked as triggering devices for the bomb explosion in Hyderabad’s Mecca mosque on May 18.
According to the report, the CBI has also released a sketch and a photograph of the two suspects. They were reportedly seen in Jamtara district in Jharkhand and Bardhaman district in West Bengal. The region is said to become the hub of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
However, the CBI had no tangible evidence but the team is working on the theory that one of the suspects had bought the SIM card from here by using the driving licence of another suspect, Babulal Yadav. According to the probe report, one of the suspects had bought SIM cards from a shop at Rupnarayanpur locality in Chittranjan, Bardhaman district.
The investigating team traced the shopkeeper with the help of the Nokia IMIE number and the SIM card. The shopkeeper, Mohammed Shahid, is the resident of Mihijam locality in Jamtara district, Jharkhand. Later, he helped the agency to to draw a sketch of one of the suspects.
The TOI has reported that both of them had bought the SIM cards 11 months before and the SIM cards were used in the two Nokia-6030 handsets that worked as triggering devices. One SIM card was damaged and the agency found the other SIM from the spot. Now, the investigating team is questioning the shopkeeper Mohammed Shahid and verifying the details of the suspects from local residents.
At least twelve people had died and more than 40 people injured in a bomb blast during Friday prayers at the crowded Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad on May 18.
