
After the Mecca Masjid blasts occurred in May this year and two consecutive blasts occurred at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat Bhandar at the heart of the city in August, the state police launched extensive search operation across the Hyderabad city to unveil the links of blasts. The Hyderabad Police has reportedly tried hard to expose the sleeper terror cells in the city.
Now, the Andhra Pradesh Minorities Commission has accused the Hyderabad police of illegitimately arresting 20 Muslim men from the different parts of the city. The Commission has accused the city police of brutally torturing those detained Muslim men during the investigation of any links in blasts occurred in state.
According to the report, the AP Minority Commission has also submitted a report to the state Chief Minister YSR Reddy. The Commission has even appointed a panel to look into the matter related to torture of Muslim men in Police custody.
Chairman of AP Minorities Commission, Yousuf Qureshi, said:
The Commission is preparing a final report. In the final report, the commission would expose the names of all the police officials involved in torturing Muslim youths in Police custody in the name of investigating the blast cases.
He also said that the injuries were inflicted on the bodies of nine Muslim men detained by police. He alleged that some of them had indicated about the use of electricity and needles during police interrogation.
The panel appointed by the commission has also confirmed the allegations of torture in police custody. The Commission has now asked the state government to give severe punishment to the police officers involved in such crime.
