The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia has supported the comments given by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding the salary cut of bigwigs of Indian Inc.
Recently, Manmohan Singh had said that the CEOs should take less salary for the sake of development of India. PM had clearly said that in developing countries like India, we can not afford the west-like high-standard living style.
Some experts from corporate India had said in reaction that they would not go for salary cut for CEOs. Now, Montek Singh Ahluwalia supported the PM’s remarks by saying that he had called for salary cuts for CEOs and laid out a 10-point social charter only for the comprehensive and wide-ranging growth of country.
At the same time, Ahluwalia said during an interview with NDTV that ther may a political context of the speech given by Prime Minister. It was also unswerving with his views and that the corporate India itself wanted to know the IT participation in comprehensive growth.
He said that anything the PM said is at odds with the objective value in a growing economy. The CII had organised the seminar on inclusive growth and we all know that this growth is not inclusive enough. PM asked for the acceptance of the 10-point agenda. He further said that PM really talked about the need to build skills, talked about affirmative action.
