
Mumbai has gone on high alert for possible attacks during the year-end and New Year’s Eve days.
Mumbai Police have increased security arrangements at several places such as temples, other places of worship, railway stations and many other important and crowded areas in the City.
The police will be eying a close watch on all nightspots during the festive season.
All the police stations across the city and its suburbs have been alerted of possible threat.
Earlier an anonymous caller had called Police control room that a terror attack is just round the corner during the time.
Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy said that
we received an anonymous call and we have beefed up security in and around the city. Security arrangement during Sonia Gandhi’s rally at Shivaji Park on Saturday will be on high alert.
After that, Christmas, New Year and then Id-Ul-Zuha on Jan 1 is coming. We have beefed up security in preparation for these events.
Railway Police Commissioner Suresh Khopde said that
the railway administration have also tightened the security at railway stations.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Region) Bipin Bihari said that
we have received intelligence warnings that indicated that nightclubs and pubs are under threat by terror outfits.
