Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is looking firm to uproot each and every remain of the previous RJD government in state. He is busy giving state a complete new look and working hard to establish himself as man of development in the people’s mind. He has been declared as the best chief minister in consecutive two years.
Some political pundits have said that the much-hyped turnaround story of Indian railway was actually the result of Nitish’s work done as railway minister during NDA government regime. Nitish has formed the ‘Maha Dalit’ commission for the welfare of extremely backward section. He has become a leader of people of every caste in the state.
Now, the Nitish government has finally removed the chapter of Lalu Prasad Yadav from the Hindi textbook of class VIII in government schools. The chapter on Lalu was in the eye of a controversy since the day it was incepted in the Hindi textbook.
The chapter ‘Mitti ke Gaurav (Pride of the Land), was part of the Hindi prose textbook Gadya Sopan since 1994. Now, Lalu will no more be a part of school education in Bihar.
Principal Secretary of the Human Resource Development Department Anjani Kumar Singh said that the government decided to remove the entire chapter.
He said:
The department is now examining a proposal to replace it with an account of the life of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, the great Dalit reformer. The new book would be available in the next academic session scheduled to start in April.
A Bihar administrative service officer Harivansh Narayan, whom the NDA had alleged was close to Lalu, had written the chapter.
State HRD minister Brishin Patel later justified the decision and said that the person who had destroyed the state could not be a role model for coming generation. He said:
Moreover, a man’s contribution to society is assessed after the completion of his career.
On the other hand, the RJD has criticized the NDA government for working in ‘political vendetta’. RJD leader Rambachan Rai, said that people from the deprived section saw Lalu as an inspirational figure. According to him Lalu is a role model for children who are scared of dreaming big.
